The Rosenhang
The Rosenhang
Red roses, red lips, red wine, German pop song from the 1950s, sung by René Caroll "When the sails are set, sails are set, and we ride now, we ride now. Red roses, red lips, red wine and Italy's blue sea in the sunshine" sings Rene Carol shortly before Germany signs the first guest worker treaty with Italy. Rene Carol's real name was Gerhard Tschierschnitz when he was drafted into the airforce. He became a prisoner of war in France, escaped to Paris in 1946 and started to perform in night clubs. A french man got him a forged passport in the name of Rene Carol. (René Caroll)
